About project

The project “Snina a city of equal opportunities for all” benefits from a 877 050,- EUR grant from Norway through the Norway Grants. The project has been co-financed from the State Budget of the Slovak Republic in the amount 131 557,- EUR. from the state budget of the Slovak Republic. The aim of the project is to increase opportunities for skills, talent, sport and personal development, increase the level of education and thus eliminate poverty. As well as increasing financial literacy, preventing the emergence of socio-pathological phenomena and good conditions in the field of hygiene and health. The objectives of the project are in accordance with the Development Plan of the Snina District (2019-2023).

The project was prepared by the City of Snina in cooperation with project partners Frelsesarmeen (Salvation Army Norway), Roma Center Ternipen, Municipality of Ulič, Salvation Army in Slovakia.

The total expenditure of the project is 974 500,- EUR, of which the total eligible expenditure of the city of Snina does not exceed 790 000,- ERU, the total eligible expenditure of Frelsesarmeen (Salvation Army Norway) does not exceed 35 600,- EUR, the total eligible expenditure of the Roma Center Ternipen does not exceed 83 700,- EUR, the total eligible expenses of the Municipality of Ulič will not exceed 49 000,- EUR, and the total eligible expenses of the Salvation Army in Slovakia will not exceed 16 200,- EUR. The co-financing by the city of Snina is in the total amount of 97 450,- EUR to finance its activities within the project. The implementation of the project is planned for 18 months, while co-financing will be ongoing throughout the period.

In order to achieve the set goal and individual indicators, the project is divided into the following activities, which are:

  1. Project publicity.

The city of Snina, in cooperation with the Norwegian partner, Slovak partners and participating institutions, will work together on a comprehensive integrated approach for better coexistence of the majority population and minorities through the inclusion process, institution networking, process mapping, elimination of duplicate activities provided by different institutions, fulfilling the project goal.

As part of the project, we will provide suitable conditions for regular leisure activities by building and reconstructing spaces for club activities for children and youth, as well as modern equipment. We will present modern innovative solutions and best practices for cooperation between different types of institutions – regional governments, non-profit organizations, but also the public sector. We will present new knowledge and exchange experiences from Norwegian experts who will be directly involved in the process of preparing the Strategy and Action Plan for Inclusion in the district of Snina. The project will be implemented by an expert team composed of internal and external experts as well as experts from partner organizations.

The course of the project, regular meetings and three conferences will be communicated to the public through the website and social networks, media articles, regional television bulletins, leaflets, publications and documentaries about the project in accordance with a detailed communication plan.

The project will involve all age groups from kindergartens, primary schools to seniors, especially in the presentation of strategy and education as well as awareness campaigns.

The Norway Grants represent Norway’s contribution towards a green, competitive and inclusive Europe. Through the Norway Grants, Norway contributes to reducing social and economic disparities and to strengthening bilateral relations with beneficiary countries in Central and Southern Europe and the Baltics. Norway cooperates closely with the EU through the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA). Together with the other donors, Norway has provided €3.3 billion through consecutive grant schemes between 1994 and 2014. Norway Grants are financed solely by Norway and are available in the countries that joined the EU after 2003. For the period 2014-2021, the Norway Grants amount to €1.25 billion. The priorities for this period are:

All projects are co-financed by the State Budget of the Slovak Republic in the amount of 15%.
